Csaba Kuttor a.k.a. the “Dog” and Dániel Török a.k.a. “The Turk” set the goal for themselves to clash at the long distance National Championship in Nagyatád as well as at the Keszthely half distance
In the shadow of all the Keszthely big guns and interesting duel is being outlined. Csaba Kuttor a.k.a. the “Dog” and Dániel Török a.k.a. “The Turk” set the goal for themselves to clash at the long distance National Championship in Nagyatád, and based on the ‘while we are at it principle’ they will both compete at the Keszthely half distance as well!
Their battle is difficult to comprehend on a human scale. It will be a lot more similar to Alien vs Predator, or rather Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus. It’s certain that the press will be filled with their heroic struggle.
It appears that Dani has gained an advantage in his preparation compared to Csaba, since in January he already finished a half distance race in Israel. Let his finish-time be concealed by courteous obscurity. Age is also on his side, since he will be competing in this year’s races at the age of 33. As a result of his age, his body can still vividly remember the years of World Cups, he hops around on the dancefloors of Budapest with weekly regularity in his competition weight, what harm could a half distance triathlon do? In his case, the serious competition past was changed to work a few years ago, but since he has been continuously working for bicycle companies, he never stopped training for the middle phase.
Csaba finished his first and only Ironman at the age of 30. And he started off in the mecca of the sport, in Hawaii. Since he will now be exactly 40, he came up with the idea of crowning this anniversary with another Ironman. In recent years he has been competing in half distance races, last year he still showed off some strength at short distance competitions, but he has been mostly coaching. Not insignificantly, he is now preparing for suffering from serious sleep deprivation, because his first child is arriving in February (who has already arrived, and we hereby wish them strength and health).
So, it’s quite obvious that if the organizers wish to see the battle of the two athletes in the reports, they need to place a cameraman to about the middle of the pack. Their preparation in swimming will apparently be at about the same level. Their training routine will be in the range of 4 to 5 thousand meters per week. Based on this, it’s predictable that they will get on their bikes at about the same time. Since the course couldn’t exactly be called flat, Kuttor will probably have problems with the inclines again, just as last year. However, Török with his stick legs will likely be swift there. Most probably, on the flat sections and on the slopes, taking advantage of his burly weight, Kuttor will make up for his incline handicap. Therefore a very close second depot is expectable. Here Dani will again enjoy an advantage because of his lighter weight, but you should never write off the old man, since that larger body also means larger reserves, thus there could be some surprises in the end.
Whoever would like to witness the battle of the decade up close, it’s still not too late to enter!
